It doesn't get much simpler than this as far as comp goes! Just a bit of shadow under the tail, and subtle detail around the feet to show that this sparrow is indeed standing in snow. Not much detail to tease out of the rest of the whites, if any, due to the softness of the new snow layer combined with the overcast lighting. That is fine, I love the image anyhow

Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/1000s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handhled, FF, some eye work as per usual.

    Good morning Daniel:

The very definition of high key!
I like the angle of the bird on snow, the comp. of course, and agree about the shadow and small amount of detail by the feet. Otherwise it would be too sterile.
Nice even illumination with the soft light and fill off the snow.

Did you do any detail extractor work on the rest of the snow to see if there was anything available there?

    Cheers

    Randy

PS: Glad we are just about done with snow in Michigan!

A very attractive image. The high key presentation and the shooting angle give an immediate impact. Love that that you can see both eyes. Feather detail is nice. Much more interesting looking bird than our sparrows. Nice one Dan

A real beauty Daniel! The melting snow on the head and the direct stare is what makes it for me. Perfect exposure, nice details and good comp.
