Really pretty look at this bird! Bit small in the frame for me but the details on the bird look pretty good, especially on the face. I actually love the head angle and look as the bird looks very focused on the hunting task at hand.
Given the high ISO, this is a very, very good result. I'd be tempted to clone out the distracting dark reeds, but that may beyond what you feel needed/appropriate.

However, why were you at f/8 under such bad lighting conditions? Your combo was f/5.6, and you would have saved a whole stop of noise (ISO 6400) if you had shot wide open. That would have resulted in better detail and more ability to crop closer for detail.

The setting was an oversight, I had just been photographing a kestrel in the sky and gave it plus 1.3 stop and had not reset the camera.

    Beautiful Frame.

I like the green grass. I would try to dodge the back grass which in my opinion is distracting my eye...

Pretty darned great from where I sit. I like the two wispy grasses especially the one on the left that frames the subject nicely. I would definitely lose the darkest one in the middle ... Even the eye looks great. And amazingly fabulous at ISOP 12800.

Looks great for the high ISO. The overall scene is very pleasing.

Stunning setting! There is only one breeding pair of Barn Owls in the whole of Sweden and it is under serious look down so I'm very jealous of this!

I like the soft light and the details of the grass in the BG. I would keep all the dark reeds but the top of the middle one as it is a bit distracting. The IQ is indeed suffering a bit from the ISO but still looks pretty good. The face and the stare of the owl is spot on!

Very nice Jon, looks like your patience has paid off, goes to show you can push the 5D4 too . Agree on the dark streaks being removed.
