    The light is nice. Like the dark background. Wish the bird turned its head more away from you.

    It works for me, the composition and crop looks good, exposure looks good, lore details equally so. Being so long the bill tip is soft but the main point of interest is the eye and the details are so clear I don't think the OOF bill tips matters so much in this case.

    I like the dramatic lighting, great eye, texture in the feathers.

    Yes, the DOF wasn't enough for the bill to be sharp. That is one of the reasons a bit less head turn towards us would have helped (agree with John)

    Certainly made an effort to get DOF with the chosen f/stop.
