This one was easy to spot, he had wandered out of his usual camouflage in amongst the purple heather. He is in full breeding plumage, you can tell by the size and brightness of his red wattles. Usual scenario, drive along the track, spot a grouse, park up and crawl towards the bird. I was thinking of removing the oof grasses in front of the bird, but decided against it, as IMO it looks more natural.

Nice pose with a nice low angle. I like the grasses there as well. Detail looks great.

You continue to kill it with these beauties. I especially like the detail in the eyebrow feathers in this one. TFS

Classic image, low angle is very effective. Sharpness is spot on, and the background is striking. Beautiful frame!

Very nice indeed Will I like the pose and the setting. I like the image as presented.
It is possible to enhance the wattle and lore details, I think it would be worth the trouble.

Thanks for that, appreciated. I did enhance the wattle a little Jon, I'll have another look at it.

You would like Scotland Isaac, Red Grouse moderately easy to get close to, and at the same location, breeding SEO, they take the young grouse. Whinchat, pheasant, buzzard, snipe, curlew, black grouse, also ring ouzel which I have still to photograph...Yes its a great Glen, especially at breeding season.
