I don't see these guys on barbed wire too often. Canon Xti, ISO 1/200. F6.3, shutter speed 1/800. 400mmf5.6 lens. In retrospect it would be a better shot if I had a smaller aperture to increase DOF. This might have required higher ISO. Any other comments appreciated.

Hi Dave - Nice - good eye contact - nice catchlight in the eye, like the pose.

Feel it could use a little more room - feels a bit tight. Also I have to wonder if the point of focus was on the barb wire spike on the left. I think your idea of a smaller aperture to increase the DOF is on the money.

would at least include the barb on the right of the frame. bird looks good. i dont know if a smaller aperture would have done a lot of good this close to the subject. looks good to me.

Fun pose and super nice bird! Agree with Harold on the DOF and Lance on the more room. Face could maybe use lightened a bit.

Agree with the more room and dof !!! Another important point is the cut barb .... anything worth including should be included in its entirety Cutting if off would be like cutting a toe, wing etc.

Love the pose, bg and eye contact !!! Sweet image ... btw could go slightly brighter !!!

Dave. Great image, agree with the other comments - the barb about the crop or is it the crop about the bard LOL. In my monitor it looks like it could be just a tad lighter. Great background, sharp, good eye contact.
    Well done!!
    Gail
