    Default Virginia Rail

I spent this morning laying in the mud waiting for this Rail to come out of the reeds...
I have been hearing them, had never seen one and me and a buddy just staked them out
this morning at my Duck pond.
This was a REAL thrill... A first view ever of this species.. I did not even know they were here.
Setting and BG as clean as possible for where they live.

Your stakeout paid off. Great low angle and close view of a very shy bird. Love the colors, details and pose. Wish for more on bottom and cleaner BG. But this is where they live. Again, well worth the wait. TFS

Dan I applaud your commitment to get this image. I like the open beak and feather details. I too wish for more room down below and a cleaner BG but you got your image! Hopefully you will get more opportunity in the near future, thanks for sharing.

Nice rail in a typical rail setting. These are birds i hear all the time but never see.

As good as you can get these birds are hard to find so shy. I would say about impossible to get one in a clean background. The bird is exceptional.

Looks swell w details Dan, would like a head turn and aiming for a cleaner BG. I understand their habitat, but they do sometimes present a golden opportunity

Dan, nice low angle on this rail, I wish you could see more of its legs/feet but no real issue there. the busy environment doesn't voter me but the OOF bottom center right I wish wasn't there.
Very sharp, nice colors and calling pose is a plus.
