    Default Barn owl (Tyto alba)

I had just been taking images of a kestrel hovering and the barn owl flew by, it took me a little by surprise hence the settings. (What a waste!) By the time I had corrected them the barn owl was a little distant. I'll nail it next time!

You did well to control the noise so well that ISO. I like the posture, and the sharpness is also very good. I would remove the dark spot below left of the owl, and the owl is a bit too centred in the frame for my liking, I would prefer a bit of a crop on the left.

I like this image and there was a few thing I would had changed, I did a quick process by adding noise reduction on the, adding a bit more saturation to add a bit more punch, cloned out the dark spots below the owl and crop a bit from left to move the owl a bit from the center.

Superb detail with that ISO, nice work Jon. I guess your frame is accurate to the conditions as they were, but I do like the tones on the RP

    Jon:

My favorite owl. Like the intense focused gaze, soft background, subtle lighting.

I do agree about the dark area in the background.

In person, their plumage is very soft, subtle. so I like your original rendering.

Do agree about a subtle crop from the left.

    Cheers

Like the overall setting here and the soft colors. Image quality looks great for that high ISO>
