Hi all. Here's another (sorry) Silver Gull from a recent shoot. Got very close to the bird, so only a very small crop here.
    Canon 7Dii, 400mm, 1/2000th sec, f5.6, iso640, manual mode hand-held.
    Cheers.

Keep them coming, far as I'm concerned. Love the EXP, Sharpness in the right place, composition, BG and the details. TFS

    Your best one so far!
Great BG and perfect details in the whites.
The tip of the bill is slightly out of DOF.
When I do tight portraits like this I always aim to be at F 8 or F 9 to get as much as possible in the feather details and within DOF,
    Gail

Nice view of this gull. Has a very cool looking eye. Details look nice.

Paul like the darker background with the white bird. Fits well and the whites look good. As Gail mentioned the DOF. I have had the same problems when a subject is so close.

Following on from Gail's comment on dof...I did take some at f8 and f11...here's the best of the f8 shots...maybe more dof on the beak, but I actually prefer my original post at 5.6
    Cheers.
    400mm, f8, 1/1250th sec, iso400.

I think the DOF is fine, I think you could lower the exposure a tad to get more detail.
