    Default Relaxed Bear

Hi folks just another one from Kamtchatka ....
This shot was taken at Kuril Lake , at one of the river mouths .... Bears waiting for Salmon to run .
The foggy situation ... in the lower image area is natural ....due to the sun hitting the low water level . Was difficult to focus at times due to my low shooting angle as the focus was struggling to lock , so a lot of the shots has been soft .

    Canon EOS 1Dx II
    EF 500 IS L II + 1,4 TC
    Tripod

    F 5,6 ; Iso 800 ; 1/2000 sec ; auto Iso and man exp ( + 0,75 EV )

Processed with DPP and PSCC 2019 ; slight crop and levelled

Thanks for watching and commenting to my previous posting

    Cheers Andreas

The fog makes a nice mood to the frame. The bear looks quite relaxed. Nice low angle and a nice composition as well.

As annoying and trying conditions were for AF, the fog/mist adds a nice mood here Andreas, and love the yoga-like sitting pose.

In these situations I will switch to Manual focus to counteract the fog and carefully tweak that focus, it's not always foolproof of course but worth attempting. Were you still in AF here?

I love the way the bear's seated position seems very human like; relaxed and yet attentive. I think we can connect and relate to its thoughts and emotions with this image. Of course its technically well composed, exposed, with nice gradation of the fog, nice BG blur etc, which is all required to let the more important emotional and intellectual content shine through of any image.

I also don't mind the mist in the FG, feels natural.
I like the relaxed pose and the low shooting angle, for sure.
DOF is nice and the frame is clean, tells the story nicely.

Hi Andreas, loving the pose & POV, certainly an unusual aspect of behaviour. Agree on your own crit, that I think the mist/fog hasn't helped the IQ.

    Hallo Boetie Andreas,

Technically speaking the fog was a bit of a hindrance, but I like the effect it created - makes me think the subject is having a steam bath

Great POV and pose from the subject. What a fun image, thank you for sharing it, you made my evening

Hope you have a wonderful week-end,

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea
