    Here is the Male Scaup image captured from the other day at Barnegat Light. C&C welcome.

    D500, Nikon 500mm f 4/G + 1.4 TC, 1/2000s, f 6.3, ISO 1000, Gitzo, Wimberley Gimbal head.

    Hi Geoffrey, handsome greater scaup in that icy cold water! I would suggest another round of sharpening most importantly the head/bill area and might try opening up the blacks there as well. Maybe a blue cast? Glad you survived the rocks!

    I like that he his riding the crest of a small wavelet. With the sun relatively high in the sky part of the iris is in the shadow caused by the eyebrow ...

    Love the pose and the waves. Well captured under less than ideal lighting conditions. Ann's suggestions worth a try.
