    9.13am.

It’s not just cats that one comes to the Serengeti for, this sighting of a beautiful Flap-necked Chameleon on the road was one mornings highlight!

Some may not (understandably) like the cut tail, but as this was F/F on my 500 f/5.6, lying flat down on the track and just a few feet away, I went for this framing for added impact, and chose f/8 to concentrate solely on that amazing swivelling eye.

I could have gone out to f/16 and still had no chance of getting the whole body in focus (with this angle), but that was not my intention, I do have many frames of this guy complete with my 70-200, so will post that later in this thread with permission of the mods.

Sure..... seeing a Chameleon is not that rare, but to find one in such an open area was quite special. The light was not great but tried to make the best of this sunny disposition.

Interesting capture Marc - I like the POV here and unusual pose. And yes the swivelling eye makes the image, wish you got even closer if it was possible:)

Colours look good and I like the smooth FG and BG, helps the subject stand out. Would like to see those other frames as well, do post them!

    Kind regards,

Here's a wider (200mm) somewhat less inspiring view.

Pretty neat. The Look back of the eye is nice. The wildlife doesn't care if the light is sweet or not. You handled this well.

Marc what a great example of breaking the rules for impact, a really well thought out image, I think it is very unusual - great shot. Nice to see the complete chameleon but I think the first one really has something going for it.

Hi Marc, a cool shot with the OP showcasing that unique eye. Well composed and thought out. I like the full view too but the first one is amazing.
