Hello everyone . Thank you for all your comments and suggestions to my previous post , as always much appreciated .

Just thought to sneak in another image for this months theme before it ends today.

A lioness and her cub feeding on a wildebeest kill. It was late in the evening but I had a good proximity and all to my self sighting , a moment to remember and cherish for a lifetime.

DPP 4.8, PSCC 2019 v 20, WB, Curves, Levels, reduced the contrast , colour balance, selective colour, one round of NR, sharpening , cropped from the bottom and slightly at the top. Cloned out a sleeping lioness in the bkg.

Canon 1DX MK II, Canon 200-400mm f4 IS, Bean Bag.

    ss 1/500, f/4.0, iso 8000

Looking forward for all your comments and suggestions .

I like this type of image. Detail on the mum is great, as is the expression on the cub. I don't think you could do anything to have the cub more in focus given the focal length and light.
However if you could tone down the kill a bit it may improve, it draws the eye more than you might want.

Love the look the young cub is giving mum as they both tuck in, overall colour & techs look good Haseeb considering the low light, and agree with Greg that increased DOF would not have granted that cub in focus.

Selectively boosting just the blacks behind mums ears would benefit IMO, as they look a tad flat.

    Hello Haseeb,

Wonderful sighting and you managed to capture loads of expression from both mom and cub. This image must be very special to you

Compositionally this works well IMO. Those remnants of the kill do steal my attention a bit and I find them in great contrast to the pale lioness and cub. Perhaps if the lioness was more prominent in terms of colour and tonality it would balance things a bit? I went a step further than Marc's suggestion, let me know what you think

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Really like this one. The cub looks to be copying the mom on what to do. The composition is nice and like the rack of ribs. Nice one.

Very nice shot Haseeb, I got the impression the lioness could have done with a bit more oomph, I like Gabriela's repost - is that near to how you recall or is it a little too dark, I would be interested to know. The other thing I would consider is perhaps making the ribs just a little paler/brighter, i think that may make them a little less dominant which would in turn make the lions more dominant WDYT??

Thank you everyone for your kind words of appreciation and suggestions , much appreciated.

I liked the RP Gabriela , provides that much needed oomph.

@ Jon: Yes, certainly more accurate as far as i can recall. Reg the ribs/meat, I darken it to avoid the bright hls ( whitish parts) , though will try and see how it looks as per your suggestion.

    Thank you once again.

Excellent image Haseeb, and Gabriela has added that zing to it (original looked a bit flat) Good composition and the OOF cub adds a lot to the image. TFS.

Hi Haseeb, absolutely cracking, super detail, very well processed and fantastic at ISO8000, the 1DX MK2 just swallows it up in it's stride.

Perhaps just a slight Curves adjustment, (not a preset) just too add a tad more punch.
