stares right through me, what a magnificent pride male he is and right in his prime.

Having the 400 prime at the time did not allow any more room above, but happy as presented and just love the detail a top quality f/2.8 can deliver, hence this version for the months theme.

    Love his grass seeded mane.

Like the composition and the gaze on the lion. This would have made a nice vertical. Image looks a tad dark. What is that in the lion's fur? Grass seed heads?

Marc that is just spectacular, you have portrayed his majesty beautifully, quite simply my favourite animal........ he is perfect! i just keep going back and staring into those eyes, I suppose you will have lots of prints of lions but i think this would make a super addition.

Hi Marc - Those eyes will bore a hole right through you. A majestic male, well captured. I like the comp and the amount of negative space but might consider toning down the hls in the upper right.

    Rachel

great subject as about as good a lion portrait as I can remember seeing. The composition is perfect, and you get a real feel for his thoughts as he surveys the land

    A cracking portrait, Marc.
I can see it working with midtones slightly lifted? Feels a tad flat?

My favourite species - beautiful lion, Marc!

Wonderful Theme image, love those penetrating eyes and thick mane. And of course, blue sky. Composition works for me...Yes a bit tight... but...what can one do when a lion gets that close?

Colours and tonality look good. Subject a tad dark overall, what do you think? I would up exposure, the whites on the muzzle and chin would also benefit from that.

Any frames taken at F10 or F11, kindly post if you have. Thank you for sharing, I would like to see more of this handsome fellow

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Hi Marc ...lovely intense stare !!!
Unusual crop ..but works for me . A real nice specimen .
The overall tonality is not my favourite ...but for sure matter of taste , but you processed it that way so it will be ok .
But the color looks partially off .... check the dark parts of the mane .... blueish/magenta cast going on . At least i would correct that .

Hi Marc -- WHat a magnificent looking Lion. Loved the framing and details . I too feel opening the midtones might help , looks slightly dark and flat to me .

    Stunning image.
