Default Green Backed Heron Fishing ( Striated Heron )

I was parked alongside Sunset Dam which is a large dam right outside one of the Rest Camps in the Kruger National Park. One can drive down right to the edge, and wait for all sorts of action. On this early morning, this Green Backed Heron which are now called Striated Herons here in SA, walked close to my car and waded into the water to fish. I liked how his tongue was sticking out the side of his beak, as he went along his way looking for his breakfast. Unfortunately, neither of us had any luck in capturing anything. I thought the pano crop suited the pose.

The light looks nice and the low down pose with the raised foot is a bonus.

HA mentioned....Hi Stu, what a great pose you captured. I like your crop...Lovely detail on the bird and the raised leg adds.

    Nice one.

I like the hunting pose, tongue, IQ and composition. A little more of a head turn would have been nice but we take what we get. Nice image Stu.

Love the bird and the dark, dark water. Having the bird angling away but no look-back head turn is a bummer ... Otherwise spectacular ...
