Hi Steve, love the soft light, and the fine textures showing up on the face is incredible. Well exposed on both the whites and darks, and gotta love that eye.

A bird I would still love to see and photograph one day.

Cheers Arash, but parking manufactures aside, I would loved to have put the D850 on the Twin Shooter (the rig hold two DSLR's with prime lens), probably would kick the seven bells out, but... , next time I'll just have to accept the 5D4.

The overcast light brings out very nice detail all around. Killer background as well.

Great exposure and details Steve, the iris is beautiful.
I genuinely cannot see any reason to remove the salt stains, no need to make things "better" than they were in my opinion.

    Thanks folks, much appreciated.

Thanks Artie, I hadn't realised that it was salt deposits on the bill, just thought it might have been wear & tear.

Jon, I think it adds character and interest, must look at other postings next time.

The 'perfect' Puffin image..Lovely feather detail and POV. Just enough HA to engage the viewer. Unusual BG colour for a Puffin, but it works here. I must revisit my ones and process some from Staffa and Lunga from last year.

    Dear Steve,

I'll swop my D850 for your Canon MDX MKII But only if I can get images like this...

This is superb, amazing detail and colours, framing is perfect. I am green with envy

LOL Gabriela, about 18 months ago I saw the D850 in Norway and the results and it does blow the 1DX away (in part, I won't completely roll over ), and at what, 48mp so it should. I think once you get your kit back from Nikon I am confident you WILL be a lot happier. Many thanks for the kind words.

Sending the whole lot back to Nikon for calibration - let us see what happens. I see the D850 likes the 500 F4, planning to test it with 300 F2.8. Hope to completely roll over, LOL... will let you know
