Hi Joe, love the intent stare, and I like the overall feather detail. I like how the Egret pops from the lighter BG. I have to say, the head looks a touch soft, and not up to your high standards.

Hi Stu, not sure why the head might appear soft. I checked the active focus point, it was locked on the front neck area. Checking the settings the sharpening might have been conservative so I raised that. I also added a bit more contrast to the image. Thank you for viewing and commenting, much appreciated.

Thanks everyone for viewing and commenting, very much appreciated. I liked this image and reading your comments I felt that there was more in the image than the post processing showed. I returned to the image and began again using better skills and new tools in Lightroom. Here is the edit and repost.
P.S. Looking at the image I just saw how much larger one leg is than the other.
