One from last year, from a boat at the Bass Rock..At this exposure I liked how the bill and also the 'raised' feather detail was apparent...Yes, quite a large crop

Pretty sweet portrait. The details look very good espcially since you say it is a large crop. The second post looks the best.

Hi Will, that's a belter of a portrait, colour, detail looks great would change anything, albeit a tad more to the RHS would be good. Did you recrop for the RP as you have less on the RHS? Is this with the changes we discussed?

Lovely portrait, about as good as it gets. Striking bird when seen close up like this, beautiful soft colors, love the eye. Thank you for sharing, Will.

Sweet view of this seabird. This is a shot that I would never be able to get in and around New York City. I see Gannets all winter but they are always out flying over the ocean.

Hi Steve...The repost is not centered on the screen, the OP is...No further cropping...Yes, it sure is what we discussed...I was going to post this last year after being at the rock, but could not get the processing right, I wasn't happy with it, so never posted. I always had the image in mind, so I processed again and following your advice and tips I was more than happy with the result....So thanks again Steve, I learned a lot.

Hi Will, you have just nailed this. I like the soft light, and you have exposed this fellow to perfection.

Ditto Jim. It looks great. Love the soft light. A bit more room in front (and above) might be a good plan.
