    Hi all,

A pretty 'standard', but one I still like, puffin shot taken on an overcast and windy day on Farne Islands this past summer.

    Camera: Nikon D500
    Lens: 300 PF
    Specs: 1/2000 f/7.1 ISO 1,000

Thanks for looking and commenting on prior posts!
    Alex

PS: can a mod help me change the title -- I went to upload an eider shot but realized I needed to fix something on it so switched to this puffin

Good solid portrait Alex, especially well done in keeping all the detail in the eels - its very easy to blow the highlights on them which is always a pity. They've even been considerate enough to be mostly facing the camera - very co-operative!

A nice head angle on the puffin, and all the blacks and chest areas look good to me

Very nice. The prey makes this one. Killer background and great detail.

Looks great Alex. Nice details and the tone and depth of the colors look perfect to me. Overcast does not mean the image should look dull and boring. You have nice white whites and nice black blacks and details in both. I have never been in the position to point my camera at a Puffin, but if I do get that chance I would be very happy with a result like this.

Thanks all, much appreciated. Isaac, I worked on the selective channel a good bit on this image so glad it worked out. Eric, the Farne Islands are great. The puffins will be pretty much everywhere so a cloudy day will be best (although can't control that). There are a couple spots along the cliff edges / path where you can try for headshots and such like this. Thanks again all,
