Default Shelter for Grey Seal pup ...

    Attached Images Attached Images

Hi folks just another Grey Seal frame .... from Dec 2016 taken on Helgoland .
Another somehow emotional image , that at least Gabriela will like a lot .... . Not the best in terms of comp ....as i have sadly cut off the RHS , can happen , stupid as i had all options with the great lens . But missed the option , by just seeing the cuddling and fired ....
As this moments do not last very long .... i missed it .

    Canon EOS 1Dx II
    EF 200 - 400 IS L at 400 mm ( FF)
    HH

    F 6,3 ; Iso 8000 ; 1/1600 sec ; man exp and Auto Iso

Processed with DPP and PSC 2019 ; minimal PS work ( one channel blending ) and downsizing .

Thanks for looking and commenting to my previous posting

    Cheers Andreas

Andreas, was this HH or on a tripod?

The reason I ask is for me I would have liked more DoF, may be f/13 and would have compromised on the SS if it was on a tripod or support. Colours look good, likewise the fur detail in the FG seal. Does the slight white HL in the BKG not bother you? A simple blend...

Think I prefer the previous image.
The tail, well we've 'all been there' - it seems.

You have captured a nice moment here. The details look great for that high ISO.

This is adorable - of course I love it! Superb pose from those two. No wonder you forgot about the tail...hmmm, Boetie has a "soft side" too...I bet you were so taken with the scene

Very nice POV and colours look great, detail on the little one is superb. Mommy seal's face appears a tad softer, was it intentional or you did not want to push iSO further?
Well seen and captured, thoughtful PP work as usual Andreas. Great emotional content and I personally find this frame overall very appealing - wonderful work

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Thanks Steve , John and Gabriela for your kind comments , much appreciated .

Agree with you Steve and Gabriela about the DOF , would have been better to have more , but F13 ? .... would have ended up with something like 20.000 or more . But no excuse ...in the field i just did not think about it .

Steve - the white blob could go or stay ...matter of taste . What makes you think the previous is better ...content or technical view ?

    Cheers Andreas

ok .... i do agree . And did not expect the same comment , mainly because of the missing flippers. I can live with the shallow DOF .

BTW forgot to answer your question .... shot HH .

The DOF is inconsequential for me, it looks fine, like wise the blob. The only thing I have reservation over is the missing flipper.
You indicate Auto ISO Andreas - didn't you over expose say +1/3 or maybe 2/3??
