    Default Female Common Merganser

Taken last week at a near frozen pond.
    Canon 5D MKIV 600mm and 1.4 x
    ISO 1600 SS 1/1600 F 6.3
Crop to 70% FF, nothing added or cloned.
BG is ice and snow. The JPEG in DPP and LR shows nice white snow but when I upload the image to BPN I get a blue tone to the snow. I tried reprocessing the image by making the whites even whiter (on the BG only) but it did not make any difference to the uploaded JPEG. Any ideas on why this is happening?
The yellow on the white belly is true to color.

Very nice wing position and flight angle. It really pops nicely from the BG. Nice Gail

Hi Gail, nice flight image. All looks good to me. A faster shutter speed might have frozen the motion of the wings but with 1600 ISO you were balancing shutter speed and ISO. The blue cast in the snow you mention I notice the same thing that sometimes the color I see on my TIFF is different from the posted JPEG. Thank you for sharing.

Very nice. These birds can move. The pose and details look great.

Hi Gail, very nice capture and I like the bit of wing blur... Since you have a new IMac, did you set your PS preferences color space as well as Export: convert to to sRGB? what happens if you uncheck that...?

Nice pose and setting. I also like the wing blur. I may be tempted to add a couple points of black to the bird. I like that we can see the feet as well. TFS

love the wing position and the BG, one of my favorite birds and one that I don't have a frame. the shutter speed was a bit low so it's not quite tack sharp on the head, if I were to take this I'd pick ISO 3200 at 1/3200sec.

Thats a fantastic flight capture Gail! The flight pose and HA are about perfect and I love seeing those big diver feet. This one would benefit from a boost in saturation and contrast. It will make him pop a bit more and make him even look a bit sharper. Very well captured Gail!

Thanks Dave. It does look better. I am still on the learning curve with the new iMac. The face/head is tack sharp on the TIFF so I need to work on my sharpening skills for this larger screen,

Thanks Ann. Yes, I did check my color space on LR and PS CC and I am good to go.

Really nice Gail. Great that you were able to get so close. Great wing position and the extra sharpening and boost in color from Dave really finished this off nicely. I also do not have a proper frame of this species. We do not get too many in my area and when we do they are out in the middle of the largest open water. Would be thrilled with a shot like this.
