Hi folks moving into the Austrian Alps ....to see some Marmots
This image was created close to Filzmoos in Austria .... Marmots are habituated to human presence at that location for many years now .
More difficult to avoid humans and Marmots who are simply coming too close and constantly begging for food .... but they learned quickly that i do not feed them at all .... life can be tough at times for the marmot ...LOL .
This guy was collecting food for winter ..taken in the beginning of sept 2017 .

Hi Andreas, yet again the 1DX MKII nails the image and very good at 10k ISO, but the body just takes it in it's stride and just delivers.
Cool to have the grass, but any chance of going lower? The great advantage you have here is that as you say, they are habituated to humans and so you can get really close and or use shorter lens for some really neat perspectives. The ones I have photographed are less forgiving and so any slight movement sends them back into their burrows, creating long waiting periods, so I'm rather envious. I can understand why the fast SS, as these guys bolt - fast.
Thanks Steve , Gabriela , Dumay and John for your kind comments , much appreciated .
Steve ... not really possible to shoot lower in this situation , would have for sure loved to . The trick was .... to collect grass for them , LOL , as these guys are lazy at Filzmoos . So i walked around the area collected grass, and placed it somewhere around the area . Next thing was waiting that at least one of them saw me doing this .... curious as they are they came by looking . And started to harvest " my grass" .... i went to back to the burrow and waited for them , not always working , as you know they have multiple entrances , so it was a bit of hit and miss.
Hope this explains a bit ....
