    Default adolescent harrier

I have been fortunate enough to see a variety of harriers on CA coast, the juveniles birds have a ark molt and soft feathers after fledging, the females have dark brown eyes. As they get older the under-wings brighten up and the pupil becomes bright yellow in a full grown adult. This is an adolescent female, you can see the feathers have started to have distinct definition/pattern especially around the neck area and the eye is a orangish yellow. Hope you like this frame

Love the top view, HA(slight look back), sweet light, soft BG, feather detail, that eye and the information. Wish there was not the slightly bright spots in the BG. TFS

Another stunning capture Arash! I love that there is a bit of dept in the out of focus BG. The light is superb and so are the details and the eye contact. Nice vertical comp and great pose. I do agree that the bright spot behind the bird is a bit distracting, what is it?

Great capture of this juvenile with complete dorsal feather detail, Arash. Like the background as well.

Awesome shot, I agree that the only distracting element for me is the spot behind, just adds a sort of halo effect to it almost. Other than that another solid capture.

Great shot buddy! Love the detail in the face and the exposure and colors look sweet. You had a **** good Harrier run this year. Bet you are glad you had your new gear

Totally man, I have to say in about 2 months of shooting the harriers with Nikon I came up with as many keepers that I had come up with my Canon gear over a decade...that is a difference!

Beautiful shot. Love the pose and BG. RP is great, but I was okay with the OP as well. Nice details. I'm not sure I've seen this transitional plumage before. I may be tempted to blur / smooth the 'rougher' bit in the lower right corner, but minor thing. TFS

Thanks Alex, I thought about that too, on the larger version on my 4K screen I have more of the bottom and the foreground bushes there give more depth to the image so I kept it as is when I cropped tighter for online presentation.

    cheers
