    Default Antarctic Fur Seal portrait

Hi folks a last one from South Georgia Island ...for the moment .
This time a portrait with another species ....the Antarctic Fur Seal ....this image shows a youngster , they are a lot lighter in color compared to the adults .
Both species where in breeding season during our journey ...quite interesting that the way smaller Fur seals have been very aggressive to us humans , whereas the lot bigger Elephant Seals did not care that much about us humans.
On one landing we were struggling to find our way onto the beach , as the area was occupied by very territorial Fur Seal bulls...... was not really fun to get to the penguin colony in the back ...LOL. Some folks were defending themselves with their tripods .....

    Canon EOS 1D MK IV
    EF 500 IS L
    Tripod

    F 7,1 ; Iso 3200 ; 1/1600 sec .... quite good at that time LOL.

Processed with Capture One 12 .....( Steve) and PSCC 2019 , slight crop for comp from all sides apart from bottom.

Thanks for watching and commenting to my previous posting

    Cheers Andreas

    Another lovely image Andreas,

Well framed and perfect HA, detail and tonality superb. Love the whiskers:)

Maybe the smaller Fur Seals are more aggressive because they feel more vulnerable...size matters sometimes

Have a great rest of the evening, many thanks for sharing!

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Thanks Gabriela .... for your comment . No think some species are just naughty by nature .... and they are also having not a good reputation when kept in captivity , not like the Californian Sea Lions who are more friendly by nature .

Clean and simple Andreas, with good detail, the fur has an almost 'graphic' quality which I like. Personally I might have run a hint of NR on the eye, just to reduce any noise, but minimal. Just wondering if having the BKG slightly lighter may add more separation via DP or a Luminosity blend? Have you thought of going B/Where?

Hi Steve thanks for your feedback .

I saw the noise in the eye , you are right should have addressed that . BG ...well think it is ok as presented , but can see your view as an option , just tricky with the whiskers . No have not thought of B/W ....but might work well too.

    Cheers Andreas

A solid portrait of the Fur seal Andreas, good colours, sharpness, detail and HA. Agree reg noise in the eye but otherwise a nice one.

The image is full of attention grabbing detail, the only reservation I had was the eye and I see others noticed too. Otherwise excellent.

Nice portrait...I feel the fine detail I have seen in your other images is missing here. Your recent images IQ have been incredible. Very nice!
