Default Early Morning in the Kruger Park

Kruger Park, October 2018. My companion and I were driving along a winding road through the mopani trees at dusk when we discovered a lovely spot and decided to stop and have a cup of coffee. There were few other cars on the road and only an occasional set of lights moving in the opposite direction, away from the night. We drank our coffee in silence and watched the sun come up, so brightly that the textures of the bark and individual stalks of grass could be made out in the golden light. We were about to depart when we saw the elephant herd, they were rushing to a nearby waterhole so the encounter was brief albeit very rewarding. Here is just one frame, not sure you'll like the composition and you might find the shadow over one ellie quite overwhelming, nevertheless I hope you'll understand it was the light that grabbed me.

Hope you all have a wonderful week-end, more hyena interaction in the pipeline but I thought I'll show you something different tonight. Processed in LR and PSCC... and a heavy crop (as usual)

The light sure was sweet. The Overall scene is very appealing. I like the composition and all those elephants.

Hi Gabriela, loving the light and you managed to show a small herd rather than a single unit which is great. The diagonal line and pano crop works, likewise the techs. Looks well processed and some nice detail throughout. The large crop hasn't hurt the presentation at this size, but obviously you may struggle if print larger????

Enjoy your weekend, albeit blisteringly hot!!!!

    Steve

PS Those Firmware updates need to be done ASAP.

Thank you so much John and Steve,

Steve, it is indeed blisteringly hot here and very windy, we might get some rain. I think only one firmware update is needed and it's downloaded already, mission to be completed tomorrow evening

    Have a great week-end,
    Gabriela Plesea

Lovely shot Gabriela, I agree it is wonderful lighting. I like the pano crop and the quality looks fine. The more I look at the image the more it grows on me, I really like the way you have rendered the elephant hide - well done.

Hi Gabriela ... top notch .
Love the Ellie procession ....and the almost monochromatic color look & feel . Lovely light and you handled color and tone quite well .
Even the Mopane bush can look pleasing ...LOL.
Hope you have a great weekend even if being hot ....

    Thank you so much friends,

Only saw some potential here after cropping. I remember loving the scene at the time, but when I looked at the images later I was not that impressed. I have a few more from this sighting, maybe I can do something different next time. Many thanks for your kind comments and for taking the time to view

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Lovely scene, colours and crop. Maybe just a touch more space on top. B&W could be fun....Nice Gabriela!

Thank you so much Dumay, appreciate your time to view and comment

I actually tried a B/W conversion but at the time felt this version had a little more impact. I'll try again with the next image in this sequence and will keep in mind your suggestion about the composition.

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea
