Actually, a yawn, not a call at all. Gail and I had a great time with a mated pair of parasitic jaegers in Iceland. One was on the nest nearby and the mate enjoyed our company as it would come in closer and closer and really just hangout... I love the perch for interest and the soft BG.
Hi Ann, your vertical comp works well, and well timed for the yawn -we can just about see his tonsils. I do like the sharp detail of the open beak, and good plumage detail showing up too. The lichen covered rock adds interest, and love the colours of the BG.
Ditto all the accolades above. Me thinks that opening up the face a bit might improve this excellent image. Cut off the head and I would be thinking immature Heerman's Gull ...
