Pride males don't get much finer nor majestic than BJ aka Bob Jnr, son of one of the famous male coalition known as Bob and Ziggy*, (so named for both their impressive manes that grew so long they formed dreadlocks).

BJ, now at nearly 8 yrs old, is also starting to develop those famous locks and a dead ringer for his dad.

We found him one early morning atop a small kopje waking up to survey his kingdom.

*Bob & Ziggy recently became the oldest documented coalition pair with both @ 15 years of age , to survive in the wild, Bob died of injuries last May after a territorial battle with a much younger male and Ziggy now 16 is still alive but now seriously looking his age when I saw him last month and could be in his final year.
This pair managed to father cubs from 3 different sequential prides.
    What an amazing achievment!

Lovely image Marc..I like how the mane is flowing, and the head turn, with beautiful detail on the face. My eye was immediately drawn to the eyes of the lion, they are so mesmerising. Nice POV as well.

He certainly does look like the king of beasts, what a beautiful picture. Lions always were and always will be my favourite wild animal, ( I had to say wild because Barney is sitting next to me!). I really like the image as presented but I have taken the liberty of making a slight modification for your consideration.

good call on reducing the reds Jon although they were very much highlighted by the early light, perhaps somewhere in between.

Looks so majestic with the mane is the breeze. Light looks sweet as well. Like the composition and everything about this one.

Great portrait with his mane blowing in the wind. I do like it with a bit less red in the repost.

    Hello Marc,

Bob Jnr. is indeed beautiful, it must have been awesome to spend some time with him. I love the gaze and those penetrating eyes. Would like to see the rest of that awesome mane if possible, do you perhaps have any vertical shots of him?

Well captured and pose is fantastic. Subject stands out beautifully against the BG. Really nice POV. Me thinking I would up exposure and lift the blacks a tad. Truly majestic beast, would love to meet him one day

Thank you so much for sharing, hope you have a great rest of the week!

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

The slight cutting of the lower mane was deliberate (in camera) to eliminate his front leg coming into frame, but do of course have many of him including portrait frames as he walked back to his pride not long after this. Will post some of them later.

Cracking image Marc... Love the wind swept mane and the pose and gaze off into the distance makes it really compelling. Lovely stuff!
