    Default Great Crested Grebe Pair

This pair of grebes seem to be contemplating whether this piece of reed stubble would make a good nesting site. They are in winter plumage and about 3 months early. The reed stubble eventually floated away down river but made for a good photo opportunity.

David the image appears very heavy to me, I wonder was it initially underexposed? The dark plumage is very dense and is carrying a lot of blue, contrast appears rather high also. WDYT??

I could see this cropped tighter. The pose on the left bird is nice.

hi David, a wonderful behavior to capture but something is not working here in your favor... Big crop, exposure, processing? The grebe on the left looks shadowed and the whites overall look hot and overall the detail is lack luster... I'd suggest a revisit to the RAW file and perhaps this file can come to life...

Hi David, This is an interesting nest-building image but as noted above something went very wrong somewhere as the highlights are toasted and the IQ is very poor at best.

    with love, artie
