    Default Common Loon close-up

This bird surfaced right next to my kayak a few weeks back (same day I captured the Red-throated Loons I previously posted), and I was happy to capture him with
his crustacean snack. Gonna be raining the next 4 days here in SF, so it's a football weekend. E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!

    What a wonderful portrait Dorian.
The whites are perfectly exposed as is the bill.
DOF rocks with perfect sharpness through the head and crab.
I would like a sliver more room on the RHS but that is a personal taste thing.
If I were to be really picky I would clone out the specular highlight on tip of the bill.
I love the watery texture of the bill.

    Beautifully Captured.

I love the eyes. Prey adds to the image.

Great look at this loon Dorian. Excellent image quality. Nicely detailed and not over sharpened at all. Bird is too cramped in the frame for me, especially from below. As the loon is not fully out of the water I think it needs to have more room below and just as much above as well.
