Thought I would end with a different image, a Musk Ox taken in Norway where we 'yomped' across the undulating terrain which was still a DMZ area, still to be cleared by the Military.

Thanks to those who posted a reply to the previous posting.

Hi Steve ... good to see you posted something unique in terms species . I do like them a lot ... one day i will go to Norway on my own and try to photograph them .

The image does work well in terms of comp , setting and the subject placement . Lovely fine detail brought out in the that gorgeous fur ... lovely autumn colors .

For me personally i would prefer more color depth and some more tonal depth across the range , in this case . I know you prefer a different view for some time now ..... depending on the image . Or at least it is my subjective impression .

Taking your comment to my previous bear posting ...the youngster lying on the ground ... why SS of 2000 with a static subject , just for the sake of interest.

I can think of little to say other than excellent. I like the colours and the super fine detail in the coat is amazing, I was just about to post a bison... think I will re=edit it!!

Nice view of the musk ox and i like the environment it is in. The details look very good. Think i have only seen photos of them in the snow.

Andreas, I'm sure this was shot around mid morning so the light would be less dramatic in terms of deeper tones, it wasn't until later in the afternoon where the Autumnal colours were richer/deeper.

why SS of 2000 with a static subject
Off hand no idea, might have clipped the dial on the back, being HH, or simply I chose a faster SS, or even as you said on your image, prefer a faster SS.

Hi Steve -- A fantastic subject , and beautiful autumn colours. You have done extremely well to frame subject in these settings and also have got lovely details in the fur.

The FG shrub in the LHS is a bit distracting IMO, but I am sure you would have tried for the best possible angle to get as clear shot as possible.

    nicely done.

A few frames further on resolved that.

Hi Steve .... well you might be right and realistic with your memory about the tonal values . I just prefer the tones to be darker ....just a different view and personal pref . I am surprised to read that you do not know why such high SS ....would have expected a plan .
