My feeder fed backyard Male Anna Hummingbird, one of several hummingbirds I have in my yard.
Although they live in the yard, these are their chosen perches wherever they choose.
This one on a Manzanita bush.
Taken HH in Northwest winter light.
I get close, too close for depth of field in these tiny (2") birds, but it is the only way
to get real detail since these are not set-ups where I can use lighting and small apertures.
Pose and colors are really pretty. What body are you using. ISO 3200 looks like it cost you detail on the head. Not much you could do given the lighting conditions though.
Thanks for the comment, Dorian.
This is the old D610.
1/200 cost me the details, I like the pose but 1/200 with Hummingbird movement is really
pushing it, but it is what I had and more than iso3200, I just don't shoot in.
The D610 is good in low light.
Just a hare off but still a great looking pose and lots of nice colors. Well done Dan and Happy New Years
