    Default Snowy Owl at Sunrise

    Attached Images Attached Images

During the Snowy Owl irruption of 2012, my wife and I made an hourlong pre-dawn hike to the Snowies. We located an owl in the early morning light and waited for the sun to break the horizon. This frame is the culmination of all that hard work...a Snowy Owl at first light.

Very nice, particularly the wide eyes! I might have had him offset to the other side of the frame, but that's more personal preference than anything else. I lived in Boston during that invasion, and the even bigger one in 2013-14. Most I saw in one day was 11 individuals!

Talk about first light!! This looks fantastic Doug. The direct stare, killer BG and the catch light in both eyes makes this a real winner. This will look great on "The Frame" . Happy New Year and See ya soon

Wonderful first light, and great two-eyed stare. I made a trek the other day to see several Snowies on the beach, but only got distant views, mostly with eyes closed. Happy New Year!

Sweet light with a sweet bird. Details look nice. Wish the bird wasn't so centered in the frame.

Hi Doug, great eye contact, and the light is exquisite. I do like your overall comp. Always good when you have to travel a bit, and then come away with some real keepers.

This shot was from the trip I took with my wife two months after you and I visited the Snowies; that's why you don't have any shots quite like this one. It was a great trip though!
