Awesome pose and setting with the water ripples on bottom. The bird itself does look a bit noisy to my eyes, especially the feet / tail feathers -- was this a large crop? TFS

Hi Alex, one of my faults, not being satisfied trying to get more than the image gives. Just before posting I cropped the image tighter. Here is how it was before I tried to get more. Thank you for viewing and commenting, very much appreciated.

excellent wing position here of a cool transitional Mallard. What is holding this one back is the noise and grain. The rear wing being the worst part. I guess you lifted the shadows too much because your ISO was quite low. Maybe you can go back and rework it to address the noise.

Very nice pose on the bird. Like how it is close to the water. The composition is nice as well.

Hi Isaac, thank you for viewing, commenting and suggesting an improvement. I checked the history of post processing the image, you were right that I had lifted the shadows. Back to the beginning doing the image again. Here is the image without lifting the shadows. The morning was overcast with flat light. Thanks for the help.

Wing position is perfect, but the lack of sharpness and high level of noise are tough. Beautiful look at the swing speculum.

This si typical with flight and action in low light conditions. The focus looks good, just a bit grainy. Well done capturing this frame with a perfect flight angle and a great wing position. Happy New Years
