    Hi all,

A male northern harrier taken at a local grasslands about two weeks ago in the rain. It was pretty dark and windy the whole day which I felt like this picture showed well. About 25-30% crop, NR. Lenscoat rain guard worked pretty well which was nice.

    Camera: Nikon D500
    Lens: 200-500 at 500mm
    Specs: 1/1600 f/5.6 ISO 3,600.

Thanks for looking and commenting on prior posts!

Love the wintry mood of this frame, Alex. The eye pops and the detail look pretty good for the higher ISO. The snow is great!

Nicely captured in-flight frame, Alex. Very pleasing light on this overcast rainy day, and good detail as well. Looks as if this has been a banner year for the male Harrier's presence locally. Well done.

Very nice. Like the rain and the two toned background. Great view of that head. The bird gave you a nice pose.

I love the mood of this shot Alex. And kudos for being out in the rain. There are tons of harrier images out there but this is one of the more memorable ones for me because of the rain. Looks pretty good considering the ISO. Nice job!

Thanks all, much appreciated. I've been trying to get out more in less than ideal weather and glad it paid off here. Best,

Grey ghosts are named that for a reason....

As Dan mentioned, they are the ghosts. I live in an area that has quite a few Harriers during the winter, and I shoot a lot and I only come up with a good frame or two a year of a ghost, so very well done. Happy New Years

Excellent image Alex! I like the setting, sharpness, composition, HA and good IQ for the high ISO you used.
