    Default Harrier digging in

Got this frame of the northern harrier last month. The harriers hunt by flying low over the bushes, once they spot something they dive at it and use their talons to dig into the weeds and sometimes even soft dirt to unearth the unfortunate voles...sometimes even snakes. This shot is perhaps a bit busy in the foreground but it does show this particular behavior less often seen thus I wanted to share

Shot with the D5 and 600E FL + TC14E-III f/5.6 1/3200sec ISO 1250. hand held and processed with Capture One Pro

    hope you like it

I like it. Shows something you usually don't see in photos of these birds. The light sure was sweet here.

Awesome behaviour in gorgeous light. The foreground elements do not bother me here. Did you see what it picked up?

Sweet shot and awesome light. The pose is great and the head angle works. Great details throughout. TFS

Ahhh houses in the background. A common Bay Area problem! This looks really good and shows the underwing beautifully. Light is money as well.
