Hi folks ...another Brown Bear from last trip to Kamtchatka .
This younger bear and his sister/brother were resting at the shore of the Kuril Lake , while mummy was fishing not far away in the BG .....these two younger bears were totally relaxed with out presence , handful of photogs close to them .
Also the mum did not care about us ....just went fishing . A great experience for me.
Weather was very dull and overcast sky ...
Canon EOS 1Dx II
EF 500 IS L II
HH
F 6,3 ; Iso 2000 ; 1/2500 sec ; man exp and Auto Iso ; should have closed the aperture to F8 with hindsight .
Processed with Capture One 12 and PS CC 2019 ; slightly cropped from all sides .
Thanks for looking and commenting to my previous posting ..
I like the restricted DOF Andreas, I think it's just right a very nice quality image. I think it might would be worthwhile investigating - have you considered a a little more and finer sharpening??
Hi Andreas -- An unusual pose for a Bear, something I haven't seen before. Loved the expression and the POV. Lovely details and colours have come out nice and natural.
I think a bit more sharpening wont harm the details . Not sure on the piece of wood but not a deal breaker.
Superb POV Andreas, as well as framing. I agree with you, a bit more DoF would have been good, but really not a big issue. Lovely relaxed pose and eye contact.
Good colours and tonality, image well exposed, very nice detail even in the darkest areas. Very well captured and processed Boetie, I like it as presented.
Hope you have a wonderful, happy and healthy 2019! Thank you so much for your contribution here in the Wildlife Forum, for your thoughtful comments and for helping others
Hi Andreas, as the bear was 'static' then I feel you could have easily dropped to say 1/1000, thus dropping the ISO and greater Dynamic range, nice POV.
Thank you all together so much for your comments , much appreciated .
Haseeb & Jon - for me , no need for more sharpening and the fine detail is there , at least here on my screen . i could have avoid lowering the final output layer on the light side , but for me it was ok . And still is !!
Gabriela - will try to contribute more than i did this year , but no guarantee as life is constantly changing at times
Steve - HH and 500 , well try to keep the SS high, if possible , 1600 is my lowest i stay . Unless i do experiment !!! So i do not see the option that you see , as per my personal shooting habit when HH . Rather a sharp image with higher Iso ....but 2000 is nothing and in this case no NR at all applied .
