Hi folks...well again, sadly it took some time for me to be here .
Too busy ...hope for the better with the beginning of 2019.

Coming back with an image of a big Brown Bear male from Kambalnaya River on Kamtchatka , this guy was one of the three big males who dominated that stretch of the river where our shooting location was . And he was actually the one , who was specialised in stealing the fish from others rather then catching himself the fish .

    Canon EOS 1Dx
    EF 500 IS L II
    Tripod

    F 6,3 ; Iso 5000 ; 1/1600 sec ; man exp and Auto Iso

Processed with C1 12 .....and PSCC 2019, slight crop from all sides .

For those who are interested ....Capture One 12 became even better than 11 . Luminance masking is added !!!! , coming close to PS masking !!!!

Wish you all a MERRY CHRISTMAS

    Cheers Andreas

Central framing works well here, love the attentive look you've garnered Andreas, nice fur detail, DOF and overall quality of image, just a shame he hid that left paw behind the grass.

Will be in your home town visiting friends over Xmas.

    TFS

Thanks Marc , for your comment.
Much appreciated . Could not tell him to show the missing paw , so had to accept it.

Cool that you are round the corner .....I am working over xmas , drop me a line if you are staying longer . Maybe we can catch up for a drink ....
Have fun in my home town ....maybe you are staying even closer than you think , but Dortmund is not that small !

Have a great Xmas .....cheers Andreas

Andreas glad your back, this is a great image, I really like the image quality, the one and only thing I could think of to improve it would have been the left paw.
I note your ref. to C12..... I would really have to be in a good mood to use it, soooooo extensive I'd be forever adjusting and losing site of what I was trying to achieve! I'll see if there are any good You tube demos.

    Hello Andreas!

Wonderful capture of this bear and I love the framing Superb pose and eye contact. Great POV.
Colours and tonality really really good, as well as IQ. This works for me as presented Boetie - congratulations

Wishing you a wonderful Christmas and a productive, healthy and happy 2019!

Great view of this bear. Looks very good for the high ISO. The composition and pose are very nice. Look forward to seeing more.

Hi Andreas -- I loved the framing and the low POV. Very nice details. The hidden paw is not an issue for me, the pose is superb, loved the expression . I really liked this image , very nicely done. TFS !

Hi Andreas, the central POV works, but I can also see another version where he is off=set to the LHS too. Having more FG water would have helped too, it's a wee bit tight at the foot, pulling pack on you position, or less cropping on some sides. Think the BG NR is just a bit too smooth, but again personal prefs.

For those who are interested ....Capture One 12 became even better than 11 .
I think it all comes down to how folk feel and being comfortable in how they process & budget Andreas, but there is stuff even better than C12, just depends on how far you wish to take things and the time you want to put in.

Absolutely right ...just my opinion nothing more .
Regarding your critique ... off centre does work as well !!!! But the crop does work for me and not too tight for my taste , i tried to avoid to move too much at that location and from tripod in a rough terrain not always possible to change position quickly without stumbling over rocks , holes in the ground etc ...... so sometimes i have to live with too tight framing in the images . As bears has been all over the place at that location .....10 - 15 bears at times .

Just for the sake of curiosity .... what is the better raw converter you are referring to ? You still stick with LR ? .... well so you do not want to work with the best ??? .
Please do not say .... LR .... LOL !!!!!
Or that clunky stuff that Mr Astbury uses ...? Played with that stuff already many moons ago and tried it again when Andy was talking about it .

    Cheers Andreas
