    Default Jungle Babbler

Compared to what I'm used to when I'm in Africa, trying to photographing Tigers can consist of a lot of waiting and listening for alarm calls, our two guides (Driver & Tracker) were exceptional, their hearing was astonishing and so finally tuned. So just waiting you have time to look for other subjects to photograph or watch ie Langurs, Treepies and these wee guys, Jungle Babblers who foraged on the floor for seeds, insects nectar & berries.

On reflection I think the top LHC should go darker.

Thanks to those who posted or viewed on the last posting.

    Location: India
    Camera: Canon 1DX MKII
    Lens: 100-400f/4.5 MKII HH
    Exposure: 1/1600s at f/8 ISO3200
Original format: Landscape, slight crop at top & width
Processed via: LRCC Classic & PSCC2019

Note: The subject is fully wild and completely unconstrained. Besides the potential impact of my presence, nothing has been done to intentionally alter or affect the ongoing behavior of the subject and, of course, there has been no use of any form of bait or other form of wildlife attractants (including vocalisations) in the capture of this image.

Hi Steve...You have captured some nice detail on the bird. I like how the colours on the bird blend with the ground they are standing on. Lovely looking eye. I don't mind the OOF bird, but I would have liked to see a lower POV ....

Merry Christmas Steve, and All the Best for the New Year

So would have I Will, you know (I always say that), but here there was some debris in front, so I had to go a bit higher than I would have liked.

Merry Christmas Steve, and All the Best for the New Year
Ditto Will, you should also be thinking of getting up on those hills, Reindeer, Ptarmigan, Crestie's, Snow Bunting at the ski park...

What a fantastic "baby blue" eye this species has! The mottled light is not ideal, but it is faint enough to still be good. Do you mean the LHC should go darker? Had the top bird swung its tail more towards us that would have been great, but I do love the opposing poses.

Yes I was a little confused about RHC I think LHC should be a little darker. I think the plumage detail is excellent, they eye has been beautifully portrayed, the forest floor looks bone dry, I am not surprised you previously mentioned dust being a problem.

Hi Steve, excellent IQ and detail on the focused Babbler. You have captured the finer feather detail very well, and overall, nice and sharp. The colour of the eye of this species is really nice.

Merry Christmas to you and Alison. Keep warm and dry.

LHC guys, sorry lost the piece of grass normally attached to my left side, so I easily get confused around this time of year.

    Everything but Dan...

This looks nice and sharp but to me there is too much going one for this to be a pleasing portrait. The high angle, harsh light, and distracting BG and second bird all detract.

Neat looking bird. The color of the eye and eye ring is very cool.

Cool looking birds. I don't think the second bird in the background adds much to the image.
