Caught these two Black-fronted Dotterels yesterday at a new wader roost location for me, but only 25mins from home. Just want to wish everyone here a merry xmas and a safe, happy and healthy new year. I've learned a lot since joining this forum and look forward to participating again in 2019.
7Dii, 100-400 at 400mm, f6.3, 1/1600th sec, iso400, manual mode hand-held. Fair crop due to the birds being a distance away.
Maybe Santa will bring me a 600mm lens??
Nice x-rated behavioral action! Image looks quite soft but is fun despite that technical consideration. I am hoping to catch up with this species in NZ in March.
Thanks Dorian. I do have other shots from a different angle...maybe not so soft, but decided to post this "looking at you" view. Enjoy NZ...hoping to get to the south island myself...amazing scenery!
Hi John. The sun was more or less behind me...but the light (sunset) was much better a few days prior at the same location...but the Dotterels were too far away. Can't have it all I guess.
