    Default Cormorant

This image was taken almost 3 years back when I first started photographing Birds.

I did not know whole lot of things back then but one of the first images which I kept to my self. Those days I used to convert my RAW images into DNG format.

I tried to recover as much as I could using my current workflow.

    I went for square crop.

    Nikon D7100, Sigma 150-600 f/5-6.3
    1/640 sec; f/6.3; ISO 160
    Manual; Matrix metering

Processed using C1P and Photoshop CS6

I do not know if this is neotropic or double crested cormorant. Let me know if you can identify the same.

    Hope you like the image.

    Thanks
    Krishna

Not too bad as is. Image quality is not excellent. Aside from the (fairly obvious?) crop, the repost took me a lot longer than I thought it would. Cleaned up the lower right branch mess and the by-the-foot-branch-mess mostly using Divide and Conquer techniques with Content Aware Fill and lots of small Quick Masks refined by layer masks and transformed ....

Nice direct stare and the way the bird is position on the top of the perch. The square crop is nice.

Hi Krishna, great eye contact, and love those green eyes. Well done on exposing this fellow, even back in your early days. Before scrolling down to Artie's comment, this screamed for a vertical crop.

Definitely not as good as your later stuff but it is always fun to go back in the archives and look at how far we have improved as photographers.
Artie's comp really helps this image,
    Gail
