Surely not a "veteran" of Bosque as this was my third trip, but i had a "list" of things to look for and to watch out for... I wanted color that is blessed by sweet light and I chose this crane to show a slice of whats nice at Bosque, real nice! Taken in late afternoon, sun low and to our back, as the cranes were flying by landing in a field further to our North. I liked the dried soil and missing nails on this bird, along with the open beak, and the colors... It was fun week shooting with Gail B. and meeting up with Doug Brown and others in the field. Although the real veterans say Bosque isn't what it used to be, I'd still suggest a visit for anyone who hasn't experienced Bosque, sooner than later and hopefully before it loses more of its "magic!"

This is really great. Awesome light details wing position and the calling takes it over the top. I'm hoping to make it out to Bosque in the next couple years. TFS

PMP = pretty much perfect. Ditto all the good stuff mentioned above, esp the BKGR and the wing position and the calling.

First class image, I think it is a real gem, wouldn't change a thing.

On the North Loop, turning left traveling SW, shortly after the small "pond" on right, there was a small opening on the left side facing a field...

Thanks Ann, It sounds as if things have changed a lot since my last visit as I am having trouble visualizing what you describe.
