Love the pose and colours against that BG. The OOF feathers catches my eye. You must have been pretty close, fab detail on the head.

I love this image but so wish you were 2 feet to the right of the bird to minimize the OOF tail.
The lighting on the face and neck is beautiful.

The light on the bird is nice as is the black background. Not sure what is around the bird at the top and on the left.
The feather detail and dramatic lighting are great, Dan. That said, the OOF rump really competes with his head for my attention. Looks like you were really close so there's
not much you could have done about the DOF.
Moving to the right a bit would have helped (depending on head angle of course). But the spotlit face, the colors and sharpness make this one a winner for me o-o-f rump or not.

ps: on a second look I think that a small crop from above and from the left would strengthen it. And the IQ looks more than good enough for a further crop.

nice image Dan with good close up details, in a perfect world the body would be parallel to the back of the camera with the rump in focus too but you get what you can

Hi Dan, I like these type of images with light cast only on a part of a subject. In this, the light falls perfectly in the right places.
