    Default Winter Fox Sparrow

A Fox Sparrow was seemingly trying to overwinter up here. I say "trying" as it has not been seen in over a week now. It has hopefully simply moved on. This is not a setup per say but this blue spruce, located next to a feeding station that this sparrow was frequenting, served as its staging area before going to the ground to feed on spilled seeds.

Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/500s., f/5.6, ISO 1600, natural light, handheld, small crop to help the comp, eye work, lifted some of the darker areas in the BG and applied NR to it as well.

Hi Daniel, Nicely captured and composed. I like very much the blue spruce bough w snow that the fox sparrow is perching upon. Also the BG has hints of other spruce and doesn't compete nor obstruct. Nice inquisitive look, and catch light. Head might be bit soft. I noticed the blue spruce needles above the branch are colored differently than the needles directly below. Since the snow settles on top i am wondering if it hydrates those needles and thus we have this color difference... Any ideas? Hope this guy is wintering elsewhere w plenty of food and a bit less frigid... I usually have 2-3 throughout the winter and always enjoy their shuffling feet to kick up the seed, etc, ... a pleasure to view.

Gorgeous bird and setting. The only thing that bugs me is the slightly o-o-f set of needles in the middle that protrude towards us.

    This is lovely Daniel.
I really like the OOF trees in the background.
Love the snow on the branches and I am OK with the OOF branch on the perch.
    IQ excellent.

Christmas Card material here....looking real good Dan. The BG and POV are really good, and the detail on the bird, along with the pose, perfect...

Sweet shot of a sparrow that continues to evade me. Love the background.

I love this frame, particularly as I don't have sh*t of this bird in my own collection! The snowy pine is so good. Details on the bird are exceptional.
His plumage matches the inner branches nicely.
