Another lovely flight image of the WTK.
Nice and sharp with a great light angle that shows the red eye perfectly.
How wonderful that the tail did not intersect with the wing.
I love the gun metal grey/blue sky.
    Good one!

Great flight capture, Arash. Like the wing position, and the exceptionally fine feather detail in the tail. Beautiful pastel background.

Pretty cool. I like the splayed tail feathers, and I even like the fringing at their ends. The vole tail sticking out is a neat detail...but trying to figure out what s under the eye.

I was wondering where the snack was. Neat how the tail is just showing. Nice one.

Cool shot Arash, Im wondering if that might be a little foot that is slightly shown just to the back of the eye? Do you know?

So what happened to the greatest flight photography camera body, the D5? The image is fabulous as noted above.

D850 is great BTW, but it is not a D5... you get what you pay for :)

Great. I can't wait to see one better than the two kites interacting. Me thinks that the D850 has much better AF than you though it did and that the somewhat slower frame rate is not as big a handicap as you assumed it would be ... Now here's a compliment for you: whoever great the camera body in your hands, strength, stamina, hand eye coordination, fine motor skills, and skill and knowledge, are all more important than how good your camera and lens focuses ... You have all of those in spades.

ps: if the D5 is "better" then why do you ever use the D850?

    Hey Artie,

The D850 AF is great but it's not as fast as my D5 with the TC. The frame rate does hold it back in some situations and I have run out of buffer quite a few times too. It also doesn't do as well as the D5 in ISO's higher than 2500. So overall if I were to take one it would be the D5 for me. But the 850 is no slouch and does well for small skittish raptors like the kites

I am going to soon publish my review of both the D850 and the D5.

Thanks Arash but it is still not clear why you are using the D850 so much for flight recently. WHy is the D850 good for skittish raptors?

Hi Artie I am not using D850 so much more. I have just been posting more D850 images here. :) putting together my review of D850 so processing these images first. I think last one before this was with D5.

isn’t it obvious why it is good for small skittish raptors ? I.e you can crop a lot more :)

Thanks. again. I wanted to know if you were meaning that the D850 was a bit quieter.

In burst mode with the grip I think they are equally loud but these raptors seem not to care about shutter sound...

Another very nice Kite frame. Mouse tail is the topper on this fine shot. Soft light really helped with exposure.
