The first time I photographed this species was at Lake Morton (with Randy Stout), so this brings back some good memories. I know a lower angle can be difficult there with the sloping shoreline, so you did best you could. I like the down-the-barrel look. I would have pointed the lens a touch more to your left for the comp.
Ditto Dan on all counts. To point the lens to your left you would have needed to move the AF point a bit to your right ...
