This was taken at Myakka river state park in Florida this past November.
it was getting a little late in the morning but there were just enough clouds to soften the light a bit.
It doesnt happen to often but 400mm was to long and I had to keep backing up.
converted with DPP cloned out 2 vultures in photoshop from the background and used smart sharpen on the bird.

Pink and green go great together. Sharp with a nice ruffle and a nice wing position. If only you could have gotten low enough for an all green BKGR ... Even though it is faint, the brown shoreline going through the bird bugs me.

I like the ruffled feathers, details, sharpness and eye contact. I would like a little more room up top but that is personal preference. Nice image Stuart.
Great image. I like the pink and green mix. Agree with Artie about the brown line in the background although it doesn't bother me that much. I would consider taking off a bit of the lower reflection...certainly leaving some of the white/pink but not as much as currently there. Otherwise, great details, interesting shake pose and a good low angle.
