A stunning bird indeed, sharp, colourful with plenty of detail. The oof berries above and below the perch I do find a little distracting though.
A beautiful bird that is very sharp. Cutting off the tail is a sin -- do you have more room below? Lastly, the o-o-f berries and stems in front of the birds breasts and flanks are very distracting.

The point of the photo was showing the Waxwing staring at me through
the branches in a typical Waxwing sneaky pose.
I like the berries in front, just a preference for this type of shot.
There are thousands of nice open waxwing photos with the tail.
I was not trying for a photo like that, I already have them....
I should have posted this instead...I think the berries in front of the bird do not hurt the image from a
"birds as art" point of view in the least but I am interested in why you think they do?
