This was taken a couple of weeks ago on the Pacific coast of Panama in San Carlos. This cuckoo let me follow him around for about 15 minutes and this is one of the images from this encounter. No food or audio was used. Hope you enjoy the image.

Good look at this cuckoo which I do not think I have seen on here before. Excellent background. I like the perch but do not love it. Overall a solid image. I would add a touch of contrast and a small amount of smart sharpening to the head.

Very nice Jim, and TFS as I haven't seen one either. I really like the detail and the pose on the bird. Nice HA. Lovely BG. The perch IMO lets the image down a bit.

Hi Jim, lovely cuckoo, IQ, can't always pick the perch, well most of the time you can't, not a big fan of this perch as it dominates the frame.

Thanks Isaac, Will and Ann for your kind comments and suggestions. These birds are along the lake at my home in the summer but are usually high in the trees but their call is distinctive and gives away their location. The perch is what it is and isn't ideal to me either.

This is a really nice shot of this species! They're very sneaky and don't usually come right out it the open like this. The perch isn't perfect but the engaging look and lighting are superb. I would have been stoked to call this my frame!

Love the bird and the image. The exact same perch a lot thinner would have been great :)
