A rufous tree pie bird gives a ear-job to a Sambar deer at Ranathambor reserve, Rajasthan, India. Not sure if this fits the theme, Mods kindly advice.

    Hi Doc -- Nice caption.

I liked the moment here. But i feel the details are not quite there , slightly coarse for my liking. Also , i would crop from the top , somewhat close to the ears and try to include the complete shadow in the frame.

    Very nice moment. TFS !

Thanks Haseeb. It could be due to the crop, about 50%. Appreciate your words and feedback.

Hi Sanjeev, I too would crop, but go tighter (if IQ allows) and lose the shadow, personally I don't think it adds much. The detail and sharpness is there, especially the eye, but for me it's all about the Tree pie and so I would have pop the FP on that and gone say f/8. Nice warm light and a cool look of the Sambar.

I like it very much my only reservation is the sharpening, as Sanjeev pointed out it appears a little coarse .... maybe sharpen little less or decrease the radius/amount.

    Hello Sanjeev,

Nice title, Doc I guess if you go tighter with the framing you could post this in the Avian Forum too But I would go tighter anyway, like Steve suggested above - getting closer adds more impact, and emphasis on the interaction.

Regarding Theme, your question is a tough one for me. The definition of Wildlife appears to have broadened over the past decade to include avian species (and also other species like reptiles etc., even moths and snails ) as long as they are found in the wild. So IMO from the biology POV this qualifies as a Theme image. On the other hand, here on BPN we have dedicated forums for wild animals and avian species. This particular Theme pertains to animals interacting, but the actual wording was "wildlife interacting". I guess we should have been more specific:) So I am not sure Sanjeev whether it qualifies, but will have a chat to the other mods and see. I personally like this a lot, the bird adds interest and the interaction itself makes it a lovely behavioural image. Beautiful light and warmth, nice colours. Good techs and DoF works very well. Sharp and great detail. Just one small nit, the little white line ( not sure what it is) on the shadow, I think you should remove it.

I really enjoyed viewing, you should be very pleased with this, wonderful work!

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea
