    Hi John,
A stunning image of an equally stunning bird. Bright high-key snow and background, but I'm pretty sure nothing is blown out, so well done on the exposure and processing. The bird is beautifully lit, perhaps partly because the bright surroundings have bounced a lot of reflected light onto it? The only minor suggestion I might make is to clone the bright highlight near the top left edge. Thanks for showing us this one, it's a beauty.

    Cheers, David

What a beautiful shot - well done John it looks great, the feather detail is excellent and nice to see some detail in the snow.
Being quite picky now but just a suggestion, if you take this image back to raw and move the Temp slider just one or two points to the right the bird glows and the snow is a purer white WDYT??

Fantastic. I am glad that someone finally got the REDs right! (That is easier to do on a cloudy day than in rich, late light.) I love that the bird is on a little ridge and I love the nobody wished that they could see the feet ...

Wow! Great image. Perfect exposure on the bird, but still good to see some detail in the snow.

Thanks Jonathan, It was very cold that day my thermometer said -2 when i woke up. Only ever reached 18 degrees with a steady strong wind all day. Left it a little cool for those purposes.

This is really nice. The exposure on the bird and snow are perfect, and he just jumps off the white canvas. Sharpness and feather detail are perfect.

I like the contrast between red and white, good details and sharp but I do wish we could see the feet
