Here's another shot from July in Arizona with Isaac. This bird happened by us on a beautiful perch (not a setup) as we were photographing Five-striped Sparrows. The extremely high winds coming up the canyon necessitated a fast shutter speed, even for a perched bird.

    600mm f4 AF-S I

Second best image of this species I have ever seen :) Looks sharp enough to go to a 2X3 vertical ...

Like the vertical composition and the look back pose. Nice perch.

Superb Image of a fantastic bird.. Beautifully posed for you :)

Back of the bird looks bit over sharpened on my screen but tip of tail looks out of focus.

Excellent capture amazing colours. I guess you were reasonably close hence the super detail, what sharpening did you use, I am wondering if it could have been a little finer - may be I am incorrect but the plumage looks just a little coarse????

Just beautiful. Never thought the back of a bird could look so good ! Of course, the turned head angle makes that possible. Interesting that the top of the bird is in sharp focus, while the lower half and tail are slightly OOF. Knowing they're closer to the lens probably explains it, but I find it interesting that at F/8 the in-focus realm wasn't deeper. Not a criticism of an outstanding photograph; just an observation.

Sick opportunity we had with this bird. Random landing near us and then watching it fight with Five-striped Sparrow was even sicker. Wish you had a bit more depth of field here to get from head to tail tack sharp but I think you were closer on this shot than I was.

Yeah, this is killer. I've seen this bird in AZ many times, but never with camera in hand. I'd love to get something this good. The light and color are money.
